Alternatively there are many self-catering apartments on the south coast, especially around the popular beaches for wind and kite surfing such as Silver Sands, Silver Rock and Long Beach. The south coast main road runs alongside the shoreline and is filled with hotels, apartments and guesthouses so you are always close to the beach.

East Coast

The Barbados east coast has absolutely stunning views of cliffs and waves crashing of the Atlantic Ocean. East coast accommodation is different from the rest of the island. One of the choices here is to rent a beach house, which can be quite basic compared to the luxury that you can expect from the south and west coasts.  These beach houses are rented out at very competitive rates and are ideal for fresh air, relaxation and unwinding. The east coast also has a couple of established hotels. On the east coast you can enjoy deserted beaches with rock pools for swimming, as the current in the sea is very strong and swimming is not advised. Bathsheba is very popular with professional surfers as it is home to the ‘soup bowl’, an excellent set of breaking waves. There is not much night life on this coast and it is best tohire a car if you need to go to the south or west coast for food, entertainment and shopping. If you want to surf or just want to go for long walks along deserted beaches and enjoy stunning scenery then the Barbados east coast is where you want to get your accommodation.
