Celebs Love Barbados

Michael spotted a young man he knew was in a quandary over something in his private life and took time out of his dinner to supply some fatherly recommendation. I’ve been coming to Barbados each Xmas for the past fifteen years, but it was nearly by chance I stumbled on this glorious place. I’m a music boss and am potentially well known for discovering Charlotte Church.

I manage Jamelia and Myleene Klass and have worked with Elton John, Sting and Cher as well as broadcasting for GMTV and Sky. 15 years back, I was at a party and among the guests was the millionaire hotelier Michael Pemberton. We got talking about Barbados and he kindly invited me to his Royal Pavilion Hotel on the island. Some days later, I sat next to Joan Collins at a soiree. The glorious thing about Barbados is that you can make anything you need of your vacation and there are always some brilliant tales to inform on your return – something for everyone. One of my favorite stories comes from Xmas last year. Often an agreeable man while on vacation, he was scared by 2 travellers who had got rather close to him. In a grandiose demeanour he arose from his chair, drew a circle in the sand with his foot around his deckchair and commented nobody was to cross the line. With that, he picked up his book, sat back down and continued to read. In a similar fashion , I took a short break in the yacht I often hire with Alan Shearer when I was troubled by 2 men racing like maniacs on jet skis, so much so I assumed they were going to kill one another.

As they whizzed past, waving and yelling greetings towards my ship, I realized it was Simon Cowell and his younger bro Nicholas.

They were behaving like a couple of teens – but that is one of the finest things about the island. I remember spotting Jeremy Clarkson on the beach last year, snappers dodging.

At the time, he had rather a portly belly and there was a paparazzo inserted in the sand, with only his head and a long lens looking out, making an attempt to get his shot.

I attempted to elucidate that if he co-operated, the photographers might look kindly on him and ‘reduce’ his belly ( thanks to digital boosting ), but he did not take too kindly to the proposals, nor the snappers presence.
