Fishing

The warm waters off the coast of Barbados offer ideal fishing for Barracuda, Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and the Marlin species. There is a fleet of Cabin Cruisers available for charter. Most charters include drinks, all includetackle and bait. Most boats can be contracted out either individually, through the Barbados Game Fishing Association, or through charter companies. Most sport fishing charters depart from the Careenage Marina in the capitol city of Bridgetown. Barbados Game Fishing Association (BGFA) is responsible for all game fishing events in Barbados and has firmly established itself as one of the premier Associations or Clubs in the Eastern Caribbean. Fishing is particularly good between January and April when all of the game fish are in season. Not all charter boats allow you to keep the fish you catch.  Should you wish to keep some, ensure you check on the boat’s respective policy prior to booking. There is even Fishing Festival in Barbados. It is held in Oistins, which is situated on the south coast of the island.  The festival pays tribute to all those involved in the fishing industry.  Food and craft Stalls line the street, calypso music fills the air and various competitions are held for both locals and visitors alike.
