The Lone Star Hotel Barbados
When you arrive at The Lone Star Hotel and Restaurant, you’ll be greeted by warm smiles, warm winds, and beautifully appointed rooms. The staff is happy to tell you about the history of the area and the hotel itself. Since its construction in the 1940s, the hotel has come a long way. Originally, the building was used as a garage by a man who used it to fix cars. The garage also sold the only available petrol on Barbados at the time. A metal bus license from 1939 was found during a renovation of the Lone Star and is on display for all to view and learn. The license plate belongs to the same man who originally owned the building: Romy Reid. Reid’s workshop stills stands today, although it forms part of the kitchen. Today, the hotel is a booming success and still carries that same feel of the old world. The house in which the hotel now occupies was originally owned by a lady who called the building after herself Ellisville. These same buildings are now known as The Lone Star Restaurant & Hotel.
While on site you’ll find four large air-conditioned suites ranging in size from 850 to nearly 1200 square feet, with shaded terraces and easy access to the warm white sandy beach. These suites are decorated in cool contemporary style, a collaboration of international soft pieces and locally made wooden furniture, polished wooden floors & linen curtains. This is a place filled with fun facts for the interested tourist. The hotel’s owners and staff know and understand just how important a good nights’ sleep is: their clients fly in from the around the world so there is no skimping on the luxurious touches.
On the beach, just near the little hotel, growth has begun with the addition of the beautiful beach house. This newly constructed Bajan villa can be reserved for exclusive guests and personal enjoyment. The villa comes fully equipped with its own staff. This will be perfect for the hotel’s celebrity guests who stop by from time to time. You’ll have access to all of the facilities of the Lone Star, but you have your own private house – that at one time, was occupied by very important people! The house has a huge sundeck with comfortable lounging chairs and private access to the beach. What else could you ask for?
The restaurant available at the hotel offers a dinner menu only. If you could only eat one meal a day, you’d want it to be at the Lone Star Hotel and Restaurant. Steamed rice, spring rolls, mussels, and lamb shank are just a few of the delicious choices available on the evening menu. With their reasonable prices you won’t be disappointed. As is the trend in Barbados, you certainly get what you pay for. There is no skimping here – in any regard. Beautiful hotel. Beautiful food. Great experience. Enjoy!
